Black August is a time when we commemorate and honor the revolutionary spirit of those who came before us. The program of Black August is an act of solidarity with political prisoners and prisoners of war within the hold of the State. Tap in with us all month.

Black August Kick Off Event – July 31st at 7PM EST

Black Men Build invites you to our Black August Kick Off Event as we explore the origins of Black August, what it means for BMB to study, train, and fight and we’ll unpack the significance of fasting — its history, its impact, and why it’s a crucial part of our political and personal growth.

Understanding Fascism with George Jackson – August 7th at 7PM EST

George Jackson – “The Dragon” – is the founding force of Black August. In honor of George Jackson’s life, the core tenets of Black August are to Fast, Study, Train and Fight. Tap in for this session as we pay homage to George Jackson and how we can continue to honor his life and work today.

Black Women’s Liberation is our Liberation: Assata Shakur and Safiya Bukari – August 14th at 7PM EST

This event will honor the legacies of Assata Shakur and Safiya Bukhari, two extraordinary women whose courage and activism profoundly impacted our struggle for freedom and justice. We’ll reflect on Assata Shakur’s story, her involvement in the Black Panther Party and her enduring commitment to fighting political repression. We’ll also honor Safiya Bukhari’s life and work, co-founding the Jericho Movement and tirelessly advocating for political prisoners and liberation.

“Understanding a United Front with George Jackson and Dhoruba Bin Wahad” will delve into the crucial themes of unity and solidarity against fascism. Black Panther Party Veteran Dhoruba Bin Wahad’s recent challenge to build a United Front Against Fascism echoes George Jackson’s timeless message in Blood in My Eye about the need for joint action and reconciling differences. This event will explore their legacies and the urgent need for unity across our groups despite any conflicts.
